Weekend...in Japan and SIngapore...

Weekend in Japan
5-6 March 2011

Since skiing and Hiroshima trip is cancelled, I have a free weekend. I was able to go for a Singaporean gathering on Sunday.

Saturday 5 March
I baked a Oreo butter cake for the gathering in the morning and decided that I should start training for my bike trip. I went cycling for 1.5 hours and went grocery shopping at Cosmotown. I went back and decided to try steaming yam cake again. The same thing happened. The yam cake does not solidify, it just turn gluey. Therefore, I declare that I must have bought the wrong flour. cos this time round, I made sure I added enough hot water to steam it. It still taste good, and I out in lots of ingredients, so I fried it and kept in the fridge.
Oreo cake (with fake Oreos..)

Sunday 6 March
I had mentioned Sue Jean before. She was an ALT, and now she still teaches English in Oita. She has been here around 8 years. Sue Jean says that there's another Singaporean, Monica who has lived in Oita for about 10 years and she invited us to her house for a gathering. Monica is married to a Japanese and has 2 daughters, and she has in fact lived in Japan for 20 years. Amazing... It's really difficult to marry someone and leave your home and live in a completely different country with different culture. I had a great time there chatting with other Singaporeans and Monica's daughter speaks really good English.

After that, we went for a Sado ceremony at the community club and I went with PH to film "MTV" for the "HOME" competition that the Kyushuu JETS decided to take part in to show our patronism (for fun lah...), in a kaiten sushi. However, this caused some misunderstanding with K. Sigh... Am I getting tactless or insensitive or what...

It still was a good weekend spent but this week will be boring at work, cos students will be on holidays from Tues to Thurs as the Junior High students are coming to school for entrance exams.

Weekend in Singapore

First, I missed 2 events in Singapore. ok.. I spiritually took part in the events... haha...
