My students have been busy preparing for the Oita Prefecture Debate Contest which is today. Their ALT (me) is not good at debate, I practically know nothing about debate and couldn't help much, and the teachers only asked me to help 1 week before the contest, and I could only spend 3 days with them. I think they are not very prepared for the debate, we didn't have enough evidences. But they did their best. I really admire them for pulling through it. I asked the girls if they would want to debate again, and they said,"NO!" They commented that it is interesting but they would not want to do it again, even if it is in Japanese the next time. There will be a Speech Contest coming up end of the month and the prize is really attractive. It's a homestay program in another country! I hope I will be of help to them this time round.
