Ski Trip
11 February to 12 February
Osorakan, Hiroshima
I went for my first ski trip over the weekend. It was scary at first, looking down the snow slope. I can just imagine the clumsy me tumbling down the mountain. However, I got a super good coach, Hirotsu Sensei. I don't work with Hirotsu sensei. He is a colleague of my friend. He's really a nice guy, willing to bring 3 gaijins (all girls ) for ski trip. He loves skiing and bringing us along would mean that he can't ski as much and he needs to take care of us. However, he still happily brought us along and taught me how to ski.
His instructions to me:
1) Open your legs
2) Bend your knees
3) Read the newspaper
4) Look up and look far
5) Lean forward
I had to keep reminding myself what to do, especially not to lean backwards. I fell a few times, cos I was scare. After a few tries, I managed to get down the slope without falling. It was great!
On the 2nd day, it was snowing heavily. It took us about 3 hours to drive back to the resort from the ryokan (usually it only takes 40 mins). As it was snowing heavily, it made skiing difficult for beginners like me. The 1st few times was bad. I fell flat, face down, while trying to recover from the fall, a skiing instructor knocked into me. I was totally shocked and lost. He was very apologetic, and quickly checked on me and helped me up. I know it was quite a bad fall, but I was ok, so I continued skiing and had fun. I didn't realise I had bruises on my face until I got into the car. Now, I look like a ninja turtle.

Nevertheless, I had a great time skiing and I would definitely do it again!
The journey back was about 9 hours. Due to heavy snow, the highways were closed. The three of us were so tired that we slept most of the time in the car. Poor Hirotsu sensei had to drive all the way. :P
