Valentine's Day

Matcha Muffins for Vday

It was Valentine's Day yesterday. I haven't celebrated this for a long time. I remembered when I was in school (sec sch and JC), it was really fun on Vday. There will be lots of commotions and I would make little gifts to give away to my friends. Vday is not only for couples, right?
Sweets from colleagues, students and neighbour
In Japan, on Vday, the girls will give presents to the boys and one month later, on White Day, the boys will return the gifts. It's a funny culture (which I think is a plot of the chocolate companies). Anyway, I baked some muffins for my colleagues and my students gave me gifts as well. It always feels good to receive presents. :)

Hina-ningyo

"Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival)" is held on March 3rd. This is a day to pray for young girl's growth and happiness. Most families with girls display "hina-ningyo" (special dolls for Hinamatsuri). This pair of dolls are made with seashells and origami paper. My student's mum made them and she gave them to me on Vday. They are really sweet! :)
